Ecommerce charges everyone. SplitDeal only charges winners.
A normal store takes payment and ships. SplitDeal needed something structurally harder: deals that only exist when enough buyers commit — minimum and maximum group sizes, live progress, money that can't be taken until the target is hit, and automatic confirmations the moment a group unlocks. If the group falls short, nobody pays a cent.
On top of that engine sat a second business: vendors. Trusted Australian suppliers needed their own storefronts, subscription packs, dashboards and payouts — all simple enough that the marketplace owner could run the entire operation himself.
Build the branding and style guide
The SplitDeal identity came first — logo and wordmark, colour palette, typography and a full style guide built around the deal moment. Every card, progress bar, button and email that followed drew from one locked system, so the platform launched looking like a brand, not a template.
Engineer the deal mechanics
Minimum and maximum buyer thresholds, live progress, conditional charging and automatic confirmations — the rules of every deal, modelled before a single screen was designed.
Design for two audiences
Buyers get a three-step join flow: free account, join a live deal, save when it unlocks. Vendors get storefronts, subscription packs and a full back office. One platform, two clean experiences.
Build it on infrastructure the owner runs
WordPress and WooCommerce, customised into a group-buying engine the client operates himself — approving vendors, featuring deals and running the marketplace without touching code.
